La Brea Tar Pits

So, I have not been to the Tar Pits since I was in 4th grade. Bella's 6th grade class took a field trip there and I tagged along as a parent volunteer! If you live in the area, the Tar Pits are pretty cool. This is the only place in the world that this occurs and it is an active site where paleontologists still work and discover fossils everyday. They are not dinosaur fossils, these are fossils from 30,000 years ago as opposed to millions of years ago. They have saber toothed tigers, fox, deer, and wooly mammoths. The museum is small enough to see everything in one day. I was impressed with the 6th graders. They asked excellent questions and weren't as scary as I thought! ;)
